About Me:
I believe that movement offers us space and time to nourish and care for our whole self. Embracing and honoring our own authentic ways to move creates an opportunity to feel better and more balanced - this is embodied wellness. We can find joy in relationship with our bodies, mind and soul.
I am a Certified Second Degree Nia Black Belt teacher and have been teaching the Nia Technique since 1998. I have also completed Nia Floor Play, 5 Stages and Moving to Heal trainings. My movement practice began when I was a teenager struggling with how to connect with myself. Hatha and Kundalini Yoga helped me sense wholeness and connection in the union of body and mind and a way to ease into myself. I have found inspiration, knowledge and expression through my studies and trainings in Ageless Grace, Soul Motion, Expressive Arts, Music, and Mixed Media art techniques. I have a BA in Cultural Anthropology and Psychology from Skidmore College.
About Nia:
Nia was developed in 1983 by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas as a Mind-Body movement practice designed to condition and heal the body based on honoring its function and design. Nia is for every body regardless of fitness level or age to heal, transform and condition. It is practiced barefoot with music from around the globe.
I have always dreamed of creating a community of like-minded people who desire to help others live a healthy and meaningful life in their body, no matter what their age or level of health and well being. Nia is that community.
